Born in Maputo, Mozambique, Cassi grew up traveling from one exotic place to another. Inspired by the power of objects and textiles to make new places feel familiar, she always finds herself gravitating towards fashion, culture and the arts. Still an avid traveler, Cassi is frequently in Sub-Saharan Africa working with local craftspeople on jewelry projects that focus on incorporating recovered relics and implemting time honored techniques. Currently living in New York, Cassi splits her efforts between freelancing on creative direction projects and working with a vintage archive to provide inspiration to designers. Cassi's next trip will be to Ibo Island where she plans to explore and aid in the conservation of local silver smithing practices. Inspired by cultural preservation, Cassi sees a future for herself collecting and appraising antiques, crafts, and art from Africa and hopes to continue designing one-of-a-kind pieces that successfully blend traditional and modern sensibilities.
